Samuel (Noah) Phillips
Associate Clinical Social Worker & Play Therapist
Outside of Little Dove, I am a school therapist, artist, and proud papa. Inside Little Dove, I am here to help you and your child navigate your sometimes bewildering, often delightful, frequently painful and difficult lives together.
Our experiences in our families—both as children and as adults—shape the whole rest of our social, spiritual and emotional lives. Nothing makes as big an imprint on our psyches as our early experiences, and breaking destructive intergenerational patterns is one of the most difficult, and rewarding, things we can do in this lifetime. And it is a family project.
Every role in every family is deserving of respect. I want to explicitly affirm dads, whose unique contributions to the family system are often neglected in conversations about caregiving. I also work with families experiencing divorce and separation—in such cases, I have a fierce commitment to being a loyal ally for the child.
I went to Columbia University School of Social Work and worked with adults in New York City before moving to California. I use an expressive arts and play approach (with both kids and adults), and believe strongly in the value of spirituality, imagination, and common sense. We'll start wherever you are, and work together to achieve your goals.
